There are definitely too few beautiful tote bags in this world! In this video training, I will show you how to create the layout of a paper tote bag in Adobe InDesign. What does the basic layout look like? What printing marks are important to follow? And where do I even start with the design? I will show you all of this through a comprehensive workflow for a stylish fashion tote bag in flat design. The bags were actually printed, so the video also includes galleries and photos of the final printed product. A strong advertising medium is waiting for us here!

InDesign Tutorial: Designing an Effective Advertising Beach Flag in Teardrop Shape + Unboxing

In this video training, I will show you how to create a beach flag in InDesign. Our beach flag has the well-known drop shape, but how can we simplify and speed up the design process? How do we know where the trim boundaries are in the end? Are there other important things to keep in mind? We will clarify all these questions and even order the product afterwards so we can unpack and set it up live on camera! Look forward to a hot workshop!

InDesign Tutorial: Multi-page Brochure with Folded Cover (48 min)

In this video training, I will share my approach to creating and editing a brochure. The special feature of this brochure is its varied format, as I work with the well-known DIN A4 portrait format and an additional fold-out cover at the front, which can be unfolded from the usual cover. I will also explain how to prepare the file correctly, where to find suitable templates for the fold-out cover, how to set up the documents, and much more! The highlight of this real estate brochure is the final unboxing, as the printed product was indeed printed and will be unboxed by me on camera for you.

What can you expect? We will go through the following stages:

• Design and layout of a brochure with saddle stitching and a 6-page cover.
• Find the right template for the expressive folded envelope and design it attractively.
• Setting up the workspace in Adobe InDesign while considering the correct printing parameters.
• Use design guidelines and design concepts.

InDesign Tutorial: Design and Print a Hardcover Book + Unboxing

Hardcover books are not only suitable for corporate reports; they can also showcase content fantastically in the free and creative sector (with high print runs)!

In this extensive video training, we set out to design a very pretty hardcover book. The cover is particularly a challenge, but it can be quickly solved with the right know-how. I will show you where to find the necessary data, what to pay attention to when the spine varies according to the number of pages, and which focal points in InDesign require precise work. Afterwards, we will design the cover aesthetically and address the specifics of the interior.

After the data has been created, I will show you which settings and parameters for printing a hardcover book should be considered and are recommended to achieve the most elegant character possible. The book has actually been printed, so you can take a close look at the results in the final unboxing. A workshop full of valuable content awaits you!

InDesign Tutorial: Packaging Design – Designing a Gift Box + Unboxing

In this tutorial, I will show you how to design a three-dimensional restaurant or gift box in an aesthetically pleasing and modern way. You will learn how to quickly obtain the basic layout using “SAXOPRINT pro design,” which areas need to be critically considered, and how you can recreate the design in just a few minutes. Such packaging is suitable for a variety of purposes, so both creative design and practical use have no limits.

Since this is a real client project, I will also address the corporate design manual and present the final result after export as well as the ordering during the unboxing on camera. You can expect a humorous workshop filled with plenty of know-how.

How does the new corporate film by CEWE, Europe’s largest photo service, fit together with a video training we created for Adobe InDesign and our client FISCHKAUFHAUS.de? It’s a curious story that makes us all quite proud. But let’s start from the beginning. In 2016, as part of our collaboration with the online printing company Saxoprint, we published a video training on how to create a very special product: designing a gift box in Adobe InDesign (see above). The printed product in the form of a three-dimensional gift box presents several challenging hurdles during the design process, which is why a video training on the design is ideal for general understanding, ensuring that the printing result reaches the customer without any unpleasant surprises.

And while Saxoprint is a subsidiary of the large parent company CEWE in the field of commercial online printing, we were looking for a suitable design for the gift box that would leave a lasting impression as a carrier of identity. Therefore, we chose our agency client FISCHKAUFHAUS.de, who promptly agreed. Here is the packaging design once again in all its glory:
